This has been a multifaceted job that has required me to be skilled in a number of different fields, including the following: Video Production, Motion Graphics, CG Design, Animation, Print Graphics, Lighting Design, Projection Design, Set Design, Live Video Production, Web Design, Software Development, Broadcast Digital Video Engineering, Broadcast Analog Video Engineering, Live Streaming, and Video System Design. This job requires me to constantly work under very tight deadlines, in ever changing conditions, with a very small budget, a very low tolerance for errors, and a very high expectation for excellence and well executed innovation. It has been a very challenging job that I have executed with a very high level of expertise.
Newscast Graphics Designer, KTVQ Television
I worked as a part time graphics designer for KTVQ's evening newscasts. During this time I developed graphics to supplement news stories as well as operated the live aspect of graphics playback and production. I wrote several pieces of software to streamline and automate graphics production, as well as developed graphics package elements to supplement the existing KTVQ graphics package.
Finish Trim/Framing Carpenter
I worked full time during High School as a carpenter specializing in finish trim and framing, doing mostly residential work. I also spent time doing roofing, sheetrock, concrete work, and siding.
That's Montana (Regional Television Program)
I developed the graphics package for this program that included an full CG animated open, close, lower third titles, and locators.
I was commissioned to do a visual effects and lighting tutorial based on my "Treasure" artwork that had recently gotten a good bit of public attention.
Urchin Film & Animation Studio
I served as an outside consultant on an issue that Urchin was having with an auto-animation script that had been developed by a third party that was unavailable to assist them anymore. I troubleshot and repaired the script.
Fusion Fight League MMA Competitions
I developed a graphics package for Fusion Fight League that included two full CG animated opens, logo and branding artwork, fighter intros, fighter statistics graphics, and sponsor reels. I also produced their live event "The Hex Games", doing all pre, post and live video production.
Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator
I was commissioned to create a series of dramatic high quality still renders of existing game assets for use in promotional materials for the web and for print.
Likes Local Advertisements
I was hired to create two animated videos for use in web advertising for Likes Local.
iLuminate Lightforge Addons
I was hired to create several addons for Lightforge for use in assisting iLuminate with creating the cues for their performances. These addons gave them the ability to use their control protocol directly from Lightforge, and also export cue lists in their format from Lightforge.
PBR Event All Access
I was hired to create a software system to display and manage data for live bull riding events. This software ties in with a web app which harvests the data for statistics, and displays the data for people to view in real time on their mobile devices at the event.
I created and operate a small lighting and video software development company that has produced and release two stable small venue lighting consoles.
I created and operate an online event planning system that integrates closely with a number of pieces of software used in the production of live events. This software automates much of the repetitive tasks associated with event planning and simplifies many additional tasks. It has recently undergone a full overhaul and is currently in a beta test state and production work is continuing with a release date scheduled in late 2012.
A company I founded to develop advanced live production tools. Our lighting control software "Lightforge" has been used in a wide variety of shows ranging from small music performances to large internationally touring productions.This system has run lighting shows for groups such as iLuminate, Phil Wickham, David Crowder band.
A real time strategy game developed for the web, Android, and iOS.
Projection Mapping Software
I created a system to allow the playback of video content mapped onto irregular surfaces for use in projection mapping. This system integrates with lighting control to give a extremely flexible platform for using projection mapping in live performance.
A cooperative space ship bridge simulator that lets a group of people play as the crew of a star ship fighting to control star systems.
A cloud based distributed render farm for dramatically speeding up animation renders at incredibly low costs. This system allows for the submission of project files which then get distributed to high powered cloud computing nodes for rendering and then return the rendered frames back to the central server for download.
